The Crucifix | c.2017 | Black and White Photograph

The Crucifix

May 12, 2024

Two buses came and went, and they never looked up, and no one took notice. Save for the turn of a page, nothing moved. Face obscured by a weathered and worn book with no title or text of any kind on the cover.

Bible?

I'm convinced that their clothing does not belong to these days... it is May and nearly 80°.

They are surrounded by perfectly modern things - the laundry cart, the lighted bus shelter and the transit map and people pass and no one notices the visitor from another time... and the crucifix.

I was dying for a conversation, but if there were ever a "Do Not Disturb" sign, this was it.
